O'Grady grew up in Wheaton, Illinois she graduated from the Wheaton North High School in 1981. She is the daughter of Jan O'Grady (a finance planner) and Jim O'Grady. The city of her birth was Detroit in Michigan. She was the daughter of Jim and Jan O'Grady, a financial planner. She appeared as a model in commercials for some time prior to moving into Los Angeles.
